AURIC has begun to create a vibrant, functional and growing program to leverage this new funding opportunity into a sustainable, university-wide cancer research effort with contacts and collaborations throughout the state, region, country and world.

The study of human disease in comparison with the diseases of animals is called "comparative medicine." This study depends largely on work with naturally occurring diseases. Using these findings, scientists are discovering ways to take research from the laboratory into the exam room to prevent, diagnose, and treat disease in both humans and animals.

Through partnerships and collaboration, the AURIC team will share resources and expertise to battle the most pressing medical and economical challenges in health care today.
