The Gold Standard in Cancer Research
Cancer is a major health concern for Alabamians. In Alabama alone, more than 23,000 new cases of cancer were diagnosed and more than 10,000 people died of the disease in 2010 (Alabama Dept. of Public Health).
AURIC is human medicine, animal medicine, research and diagnostics where faculty, students, and staff are working together to solve the complex puzzle of cancer. AURIC is based within the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, but AURIC is everywhere, from the laboratory to the clinic.

Auburn University Scientists to Test Anti-Tumor Properties of New Drug The Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and Nuovo Biologics, a biotechnology company, have announced a collaborative research agreement to study a new anti-cancer drug which also has antiviral properties. [more]
Auburn Testing Drug for Bone Cancer that Could Translate to Humans The American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation has awarded Bruce Smith, director of the Auburn University Research Initiative in Cancer, a two-year grant totaling $118,848 to test the new therapy. [more]
